Institutions of Higher Learning

Princeton University - 258-3000
Founded in 1746 as the College of New Jersey, Princeton University is located in central Princeton. James Forrestal Campus to the East of town is a major facility for research and instruction and is an integral part of the University. It includes the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a major international center for research in plasma physics and controlled thermonuclear fusion. Group visits to PPPL facilities can be arranged by calling 243-2750. Many lectures and seminars at the University are open to the public. Functions of interest to the community are frequently held by various organizations at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs (Robertson Hall at Washington Road and Prospect Avenue.

Princeton Theological Seminary - 921-8300
Founded in 1812 by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, the Seminary is today a nondenominational graduate institution preparing men and women for ministry in the Christian church.

Westminster Choir College - 921-7100
Westminster Choir College of Rider University offers a vibrant campus life as well as performance and educational opportunities unmatched in similar institutions. Home of the world-renowned Westminster Choir and one of four academic units of nearby Rider University in Lawrenceville, the college offers undergraduate and graduate degrees which prepare students to pursue continued graduate studies or to become professional musicians or music instructors. Westminster Conservatory, the college's community music school division, is open to all ages and offers noncredit music courses.

Institute for Advanced Study - 734-8000
This community of scholars pursues pure research in the humanities, mathematics, theoretical physics, and social sciences. A small permanent faculty is augmented by a large number of visiting associates invited for a year or more. The Institute offers no courses of instruction.

Adult Education

Princeton Adult School - P.O. Box 701, 683-1101
Noncredit evening courses in a variety of areas from the humanities and social studies to arts and crafts, foreign languages as well as English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Thomas Edison State College
Adults in the Princeton area who have not yet completed a college degree may do so through the on-line courses offered by Thomas Edison State College.

Courses in women's issues, crafts, career-related subjects, foreign languages, ESOL.
